The 1st Cavalry Division, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, is a highly decorated and storied unit with a rich history. Formed in 1921, it’s known as the “First Team” and is a combined arms division, meaning it combines different types of military units for combat. The division has served in numerous conflicts, including World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, and more recent engagements in Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The 1st Cavalry Division is currently subordinate to the III Armored Corps.
