The 11th Division, activated at Camp Meade (now Fort Meade) in Maryland during World War I, was a training and replacement division that never deployed for combat. After being demobilized following the war, the division was reactivated and used for WWII deception efforts, notably as a phantom division in Operation Fortitude.
