The 5th Squadron, 9th Cavalry, is an armored reconnaissance squadron within the U.S. Army’s 9th Cavalry Regiment. It is currently assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, and is stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. The 9th Cavalry Regiment is historically known for its service as one of the segregated African-American units, also known as the Buffalo Soldiers.
