The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) of the U.S. Army’s World War II-era 16th Armored Division was the “Armadillo” patch, featuring a grey armadillo on a green square background. This division was activated in 1943 and inactivated after World War II, having earned distinction for liberating the city of Plzeň in Czechoslovakia.
