The 2nd Ranger Infantry Company served in the Korean War, operating as a scouting and ranger unit for the U.S. 7th Infantry Division, earning the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) for its front-line actions. Activated after the close of World War II, the company was the first all-Black unit to make a combat jump during the war and was known as the “Buffalo Rangers” for its scouting and airborne capabilities. The unit was disbanded in August 1951, after its 10-month existence during the conflict.
