The history of a “6th Infantry Regiment” varies significantly depending on the country. In the United States, the 6th Infantry Regiment (known as “The Regulars”) was established in 1812 and participated in major conflicts, including the War of 1812, the American Civil War, and the Philippine-American War. In the Philippines, the Sixth Infantry Division (Kampilan) traces its roots to a provisional brigade activated in 1973 to combat secessionist movements in Central Mindanao. The term “Regulars” specifically refers to the U.S. Army’s 6th Infantry Regiment.
