The 41st Infantry Regiment was one of the original six regiments of “Buffalo Soldiers,” established by Congress in July 1866 to serve in the regular U.S. Army. However, these early infantry regiments, including the 38th, 39th, 40th, and 41st, were later consolidated into the 24th and 25th Infantry Regiments.
