The 2nd Infantry Division (2ID), nicknamed the “Indianhead” division, is a permanently forward-stationed U.S. Army division in South Korea. Its primary mission is to deter aggression and maintain peace on the Korean Peninsula and, if deterrence fails, to “Fight Tonight” in support of the U.S.-Republic of Korea Alliance according to 2nd Infantry Division – Korea (.mil). The division has a significant history, including service in both World War II and the Korean War.
