The 12th Division, also known as the Plymouth Division, was an infantry division of the United States Army that served during World War I. It was established at Camp Devens, Massachusetts, and was part of a group of six divisions formed in mid-1918. The division’s training was interrupted by the armistice, and it was later disbanded. The division’s shoulder insignia featured a blue diamond with a red center and the figure “12” in white, pierced by a bayonet. The division’s formation and initial training were significantly impacted by the end of the war, preventing it from being deployed overseas or engaging in wartime operations.
