Unit History
- The 442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT) was a U.S. Army fighting unit composed almost entirely of second-generation Japanese American (Nisei) soldiers during World War II. The unit was activated in 1943 during a period when many Japanese American families were held in internment camps in the United States, which made their service a profound display of patriotism and loyalty in the face of adversity. Their motto was “Go For Broke“.
