Unit History
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) of the 16th Infantry Division represents a World War I U.S. Army unit that was activated in 1918 but did not see combat before the Armistice. The division was demobilized in 1919, and its insignia remains a symbol of the nation’s rapid mobilization and readiness during the final stages of the Great War.
