HISTORY

• The 59th Infantry Platoon (Scout Dog) was a U.S. Army unit that served in the Vietnam War, primarily tasked with using military working dogs to detect enemy positions, ambushes, and booby traps. The unit was formed from the 59th Infantry Counterfire Platoon in 1968 and served as part of the 11th Infantry Brigade, 23rd Infantry Division. The “Blue Tab” and “X 300” likely refer to its unit designation within the brigade and a specific service inscription, respectively.
