HISTORY

    • The 23rd Engineer Battalion was part of the 3rd Armored Division during the Cold War, stationed at the Hessen-Homburg Kaserne in Hanau, Germany, starting in April 1956. Its history includes being reactivated in 1947, deploying to Europe, and participating in Cold War-era training and readiness exercises as the division’s engineer battalion. The unit was a major component of the division’s presence in Germany and later deployed to Southwest Asia for the Gulf War.
