HISTORY

    • Deployment: The 23rd Engineer Battalion deployed from Hanau, Germany, with the main body arriving in Saudi Arabia around December 22, 1990.
    • Task Organization: During combat operations, the 3rd AD engineers were task-organized. The 23rd Engineer Battalion (-) supported the 2nd Brigade, while A/12 EN was attached to the 23rd Engineer Task Force (TF 23 EN). A company from the 23rd Engineer Battalion (B/23 EN) was attached to the 12th Engineer Task Force (TF 12 EN), which supported the 1st Brigade, and C/23 EN (-) was attached to the 4-7 CAV (Division Cavalry Squadron). The bridge company, E Company, left its equipment in Dahrain and supported the Division Support Command (DISCOM) by hauling supplies.
