The 24th Infantry Regiment, one of the “Buffalo Soldier” regiments, was primarily stationed in the Western United States, including Texas, from its formation in 1869 until 1898. While there’s no specific mention of a period of time at Fort Stockton, TX, during this era, the regiment served at various frontier posts, including Fort Bayard, Fort Huachuca, and others, during this time.
