The 18th Military Police Brigade in Vietnam utilized Military Working Dogs (MWD), specifically in Sentry Dog companies, to enhance security at critical installations and facilities. These dogs and their handlers were a vital part of the brigade’s operations, supplementing physical security measures. The 18th MP Brigade was activated at Fort Meade, Maryland, on May 20, 1966, and deployed to Vietnam, assuming operational control over non-division MP units on September 26, 1966
