The 10th Cavalry Regiment, one of the original “Buffalo Soldier” regiments, was a segregated African-American U.S. Army unit established in 1866. It served at various posts during the Indian Wars, participated in the Spanish-American War and other conflicts, and was stationed at Fort Supply, OK, though its most prominent period was on the Great Plains, as well as in Arizona and New Mexico. The regiment’s history is defined by its combat service and its role in American expansion and military engagements.
