The “4th Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment” refers to a specific battalion within the larger structure of the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Regiment. This battalion, designated as the 4th Battalion, would be one of the subordinate units within the 1st Infantry Regiment. The 1st Infantry Regiment is part of the 1st Infantry Division, nicknamed the “Big Red One”. The 4th Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment has a history of deployments, including to Germany, Iraq, and Afghanistan. It was also part of the Army’s Division 86 concept and the transition to the M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
