HISTORY

• • Formation and Training: The 59th Platoon was formed around January/February 1968 at Fort Benning, Georgia along with the 47th Platoon. Both were trained at the USAIC DOG TRAINING facility.
  • Deployment: Personnel were issued two weeks of leave with orders to report back to Fort Benning by May 15, 1968, to prepare for deployment to South Vietnam.
