The 48th Field Artillery Battalion was a unit of the US Army’s 7th Infantry Division during World War II, participating in the campaign to liberate the Philippines from Japanese forces. The “Lucky 7th” Division moved west into the Pacific and fought from the Marshall Islands to the Philippines, securing victory and eventually raising the American flag on Okinawa. During this time, the 48th FA Battalion, as part of the Division’s larger efforts, was engaged in heavy combat.
